Servicom Charter of the office of the Auditor General for the Federation

Preamble


The Servicom Charter is both a veritable tool and an operational guideline for the implementation of the service compact with the citizens for the provision of qualitative, efficient, effective and prompt service delivery to the citizens.

Introduction


The Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation is responsible under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the audit   and  on the accounts, policies, projects and programs of the government of the Federation and  of all Offices and Courts including persons entrusted with the receipt, custody and payment of Federal Public Funds.

The Office examines the financial transactions of all Ministries/Extra-Ministerial Departments and ascertains whether they are accurately recorded, all public monies are fully accounted for and all transactions are carried out in accordance with budgetary laws, financial regulations and extant circulars and that adequate financial control exist and are being maintained.

The activities and responsibilities of the Office are govern by section 85 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the provisions of section 24 of Finance (Control and Management) Act 1958 and Audit cap 17 of 1958.
The Office is well structured to deliver all its responsibilities of auditing, reporting, ascertaining compliance, assessing internal control system, ensuring judicious application of public funds and generally fostering accountability in the nation.
